When Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel debuted in 2013, to say it was divided fans of the Superman mythos would be an understatement. It’s also interesting to note that the scenes set in Krypton’s past were considered among the film’s highlights. Developed by David S. Goyer (Blade, The Dark Knight Rises) SyFy’s Krypton aims to flesh out more of the doomed planet’s pre-history, set generations before the birth of Kal-El.

Krypton is the story of Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), grandfather to Superman, as he struggles to restore honor to the House of El. According to early press reports, the once noble family have been ‘ostracized and shamed.’ After an encounter with time traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos), where he learns of his grandson’s legacy, Seg is left with a dilemma. Save the planet from ecological disaster, or let fate play its hand for the good of the future.

The trailer goes on to show visually arresting set pieces, futuristic technology, time travel, and Black Kryptonians! Fans should know also that the name, “Seg-El,” is a direct reference to Superman co-creator, Jerry Siegel. In addition to comics mainstays like Adam Strange, and Brainiac, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer, Geoff Johns says Krypton will feature the most comics-accurate depiction of Doomsday yet to appear in live-action. Coming this Spring, will Krypton be worth the wait? One can only hope. See what we did there?

Krypton premieres on SyFy March 21st, 2018, and stars Cameron Cuffe (Florence Foster Jenkins, Time After Time) Georgina Campbell (Black Mirror, Broadchurch) Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones, The Tudors) Ann Ogbomo (Wonder Woman, World War Z) Shaun Sipos (The Vampire Diaries, Dark Matter) and Rasmus Hardiker (Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Thomas & Friends)
