Gaming News Roundup – May 14

    Sony’s Plans For E3

Sony’s revealed their gameplan for their E3 conference this year and it looks like they’ll be taking a PSX approach to it. Instead of showing us a bunch of titles, they plan to go in-depth on a few of their big exclusives like Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, Last Of Us Part II, and Spider-Man. Quality over quantity this year, I suppose. They state that they will be talking about indies and third-party games as well, but their focus will largely be on their bigger titles.

    Nintendo’s Online Service

The Switch’s paid online services will be launching in September this year, but before then, we’ve gotten some new details about it. As reported before, it’s a lot cheaper compared to its competitors with a year membership being just $19.99 for a year and $34.99 for a family membership. There’s also Cloud saves which is fantastic, so you won’t be out of luck if you need to get another Switch.

Along with the $19.99 a year option is access to a bunch of NES games, which in some cases feature online capability. This does unfortunately confirm that the Switch won’t be getting the Virtual Console as its predecessors did, so RIP those hopes.

    Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

In other Switch news, it’ll finally be getting a Monster Hunter game. Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate was announced this week to be coming exclusively to the Switch. It’s unclear whether or not there will be a port for Monster Hunter World on the Switch, especially since Capcom says it would be difficult, but this should keep Switch players busy in the meantime. You can check out the trailer for it here.

    Steam Link App Looks Incredible

A new Steam Link app for Android and iOS will allow you to stream your Steam games to your phone or tablet at 4K, 60 frames per second. The app will be releasing towards the end of this month, so if you’re into playing your PC games on your phone, be sure to stay tuned for that.

    Mercy’s Charity Skin

If you haven’t been in the loop in Overwatch news, you may have missed that there was an incredible new skin for Mercy. The people at Blizzard teamed up with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to make this skin and all proceeds made from it will be donated to the charity. You’ll be able to buy it for $14.99 until May 21st. You can see the trailer for it here.

That’s the news for this week! Excited for E3 and to see more Last Of Us? In adoration of Mercy’s new skin? Let us know below! If you’re someone that’s just getting into League of Legends and in need of a guide, BJ Brown has a few great tips to help you get a better feel of the game that you can read here.
