Gaming News Roundup – June 12: Kingdom Hearts 3 is a Fantasy, Shenmue 3 in 2018, Cyberpunk 2077 Ransom
In this week’s roundup, we’ll be covering things you may have missed because of E3. Don’t worry though, we do still have articles covering the E3 conferences.
Kingdom Hearts 3 New Trailer, Still No Release Date
While E3 was going on, it looks like we were hit with another fantastic Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer. The trailer showcases some powers we haven’t seen yet and shows us a few returning characters that look amazing in the new engine. Even though the game looks absolutely stunning, I still have to wonder when we’ll be seeing it. Can’t wait for my grandkids to enjoy Kingdom Hearts 3. You can catch this trailer here.
Shenmue 3 Delayed Until 2018
While we have yet to see more than a small tech demo from Kickstarted sequel, Shenmue 3, there’s quite a few people still very excited about it. Those people will be saddened to hear that we’ll be waiting a bit longer with the game being pushed back another year. It’s a bit worrying how little we’ve seen of it, and that what we did see looked like a Steam Greenlight shovelware game, but hopefully we’ll see something soon, sadly not at E3.
Cyberpunk 2077 Held For Ransom
In a wild turn of events, hackers have gotten a hold of assets having to do with CD Projekt Red’s upcoming game, Cyberpunk 2077. The hackers threatened to release these assets if they aren’t paid a desired amount. The studio is holding their ground stating, “We will not be giving in to the demands of the individual or individuals that have contacted us, which might eventually lead to the files being published online.” They have also stated that the files the hackers have are old and unrepresentative of the game. I’m glad to see CD Projekt Red standing their ground so proudly and not giving in, but let’s hope the hackers give up and learn a lesson from this.
Bubsy Is Back?
If anyone remembers Bubsy, you’ll remember how it was notoriously one of the worst platformers of all time. Released in 1993, Bubsy 3D became a 90s icon for all the wrong reasons, being continuously mocked throughout the years for its unresponsive tank controls, terrible camera, and ugly graphics. Now Bubsy is back, for some reason. I’m not sure who was asking for a Bubsy reboot, but hey, you’re getting it, I hope you’re proud of yourself. Hopefully this new Bubsy will be memorable for being a great game this time around, but I’m sure a lot of us will still be wary of it when it hits shelves Fall of this year.
That’s the news for this week, what did you think? Be sure to let us know below and come back next week for another roundup. Also be sure to check out all the E3 news happening!
