Gaming News Roundup – Jan 29: Paragon Shutting Down, God of War, Xbox Game Pass
Epic Games To Shut Down Paragon
After being playable to the public in 2016, Paragon showed a lot of promise. It garnered a lot of attention from people familiar with MOBAs and even those that had never played one before, but due to quite a few complications with balancing and its community falling apart, the game will be shutting down April 26th. In their official blog, they mention that players who had made any purchases in the game are eligible for a refund. It’s unfortunate to see a game that had so much potential go to waste, but for more detail on why the community started stepping away from it, a YouTuber called The Black Hokage discusses it here. To sum it up, Epic wasn’t listening to its community and the game’s quality dropped drastically due to balancing issues, and now Epic is allocating resources to Fortnite. RIP Paragon.
Anthem Delayed To 2019
The game that Bioware sacrificed Mass Effect: Andromeda to make is being delayed to early 2019. Hopefully this is a good sign that Bioware aren’t taking their criticisms lightly and making sure that Anthem performs well after everything that happened with Andromeda. They have to know that if Anthem doesn’t do well, it could really be the end of the studio. We’ll see how it goes in 2019.
God Of War Gets A Release Date
With an awesome story trailer for the new God of War, we finally got the release date for when we’ll be able to get our hands on it. You’ll be able to unleash your rage as Kratos again April 20th. Until then though, you should take a look at this story trailer, there’s definitely a lot to take from it. It seems like a large portion of the story is going to be about Kratos keeping his violent past away from his son, a very interesting way to go about it. I figured he would have told him, and his son was just going to be an unstoppable beast. Also the game looks incredible, just look at that angry dad.
Xbox Game Pass Adds Exclusives
Xbox has just recently announced that first party developed games such as Sea of Thieves, Gears of War 4, and many others will be added to the Xbox Game Pass. To anyone unfamiliar with it, the Xbox Game Pass is a monthly subscription service that allows players access to hundreds of games for a monthly price of $9.99. This is a huge move for Xbox, $9.99 giving you access to new exclusives like Crackdown 3 (if it ever comes out) and Sea of Thieves is ridiculous and could perhaps give people more reason to get an Xbox.
A New Dragon Age Is In Development
Through a couple of tweets, we’ve gotten confirmation that there is another Dragon Age in the works. Through this tweet by Bioware GM, Casey Hudson, we learn that this new Dragon Age game will be more focused on story and character, which is why most fans love the series so much. Through another tweet by the series’ executive producer, Mark Darrah, we know that Bioware has teams working on both Anthem and the new Dragon Age. We don’t have much information on it, but it is pretty exciting to know that we’ll be seeing another Dragon Age, I just hope that it doesn’t turn out like Andromeda did. That’s just my hope for anything Bioware from now on.
