One of the biggest fandoms on the planet revolve around the art of kung-fu and its masters. From Bruce Lee to Bruce Leroy there have been countless adaptation, interpretations, original stories, and art devoted to the “Kung Fu Flick”.  One of the greatest adversaries and heroes in Kung-Fu movies has undoubtedly been the ninja (think Shinobi, Revenge of the Ninja, etc.). This year as part of the New York Asian Film Festival, Subway Cinema and Anthology Film Archives are throwing a huge four-day celebration titled: Old School Kung Fu Fest 2015: Enter The Ninja.

“Since the dawn of time, man’s natural predator has been the ninja. Hiding in your shower, crouching behind your laptop, clinging to your back — the ninja is everywhere. What killed the dinosaurs? Ninja. What battles great white shark? Ninja. Who is buying flowers for your mom? Probably ninja. But ninja is not vampire! Ninja can be filmed! This year’s Old School Kung Fu Fest examines this crazy natural phenomena of ninja with 14 movies that show you this sneaky fighter in the only place where he cannot shoot throwing stars into your eyes: on the movie screen!”

The cinema event will feature 14 films from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. Screenings and exhibitions will be held at Anthology Film Archives from April 16 – 19, 2015, at 32 Second Ave on the corner of 2nd Ave and E. 2nd Street (closest train is the F train; get off at 2nd Ave station. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for students, seniors, and children (12 years & under), $6 for Anthology Film members. You can purchase your tickets online, or at the Anthology Film Archives box office.
