Hello everyone, welcome back to the yearly video game circus that it E3! I’m Nygile AKA UncoloredPage, and I’ll be your guy for covering everything that happened at each conference, like last year. Without further ado, let’s get into what E3 had in store for us this year.

    E3 2018 Day 1

A New Trailer For Battlefield V And A New Game Mode

Battlefield V, which was revealed a couple weeks ago, got a brand new trailer showcasing its multiplayer and even more importantly, its destructible environments. In true Battlefield style, you can destroy building and obliterate cover in real time and it looks beautiful.

They also revealed a battle royale mode, going with the trend of all of these battle royale modes coming out. They called it “royale reimagined”, but we didn’t get much more info on it besides that. It’s safe to assume what it’ll be like though, a bunch of players drop into a map and shoot each other until one of them isn’t dead. They said we’ll get more info on it later in the year, but more about the game at Microsoft’s conference. It’ll be released on October 19th.

    Respawn’s Star Wars Game

We got barely any info on Respawn’s Star Wars game, Jedi: Fallen Order. It’s clearly still in the early stages of development, meaning we won’t see any of it for a while. Vince Zampella of the Respawn team did give us some details about the story though. As the title suggests, we’ll be controlling a Jedi. It’ll be an original story set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and the release window they have set for it is the holidays of 2019.

Battlefront II Is Adding The Clone Wars

Star Wars Battlefront II is going to be getting a plethora of new content this year. There’s going to be new characters to play as such as General Grievous, Anakin Skywalker, and Obi Wan Kenobi. In terms of modes, there’s going to be a new squad system, a new starfighter mode, a new command-post capture mode, and some new maps and heroes from the Clone Wars.

Unravel Two Was Announced And Released

Yarny, the adorable little yarn guy, has returned and this time he’s brought a friend for a new co-op adventure. A lot of people loved the first Unravel, so I’m sure many people were delighted to see it return. The team made sure to let us know that you can still play the game single-player and that you can control them both in that scenario. They released a trailer and if you think it looks like something you’d enjoy, it’s actually out right now! It’s on PS4, Xbox One, and PC!

Sea of Solitude Is About Loneliness And Depression

This is one of the EA Originals, similar to A Way Out. Sea of Solitude will be themed around depression and loneliness. As you can tell by the trailer, these issues manifest themselves as monsters in-game that attack the protagonist, Kay. It looks to be a very nice looking 3D platformer. It also features an absolutely gorgeous art style. You can expect this to be out early 2019, I’m very excited to play it.

Command & Conquer Returns On Mobile

Iconic RTS Command & Conquer has returned, but this time you battle on the mobile battlefield. The crowd wasn’t really feeling it, but I’m sure there are a few people out there that have been wanting a competitive RTS on the go. You can see the trailer for it here, but you can also watch the gameplay overview of it here.

    More About Anthem

    GANG

Bioware’s Casey Hudson, executive producer Mark Darrah, and the game’s lead writer Cathleen Rootsaert took the stage to give us a deeper look into their highly anticipated action RPG, Anthem.

They discussed how your character’s “Javelin” exo suit is customizable and that you’ll be able to change it to fit your playstyle and your team’s setup. The team then disclosed that there will be no loot boxes in the game, which is great information that shows us how much Battlefront II hurt EA.

We also got a trailer and a gameplay demo and the game is looking pretty nice. I’m excited to see more of it and eventually play it when it releases February 22, 2019. You can see the full Anthem presentation here, but if you want to get straight to the gameplay, it starts at about 13:14 in the video.

    Sportsball Trailers

Obviously, EA is big on sports video games, so they showed the ones that they’re releasing this year. The FIFA trailer was very dramatic, you can watch it here. We got trailers for both Madden 19 and Madden Overdrive, the mobile version of Madden. Madden is also coming to PC this year, I’m excited to see the mods people will most definitely make. There was also a trailer for NBA Live 19, which you can see here.

That was EA’s presentation this year, they did pretty decent. I’m definitely most excited about Sea of Solitude and Anthem. The only thing I was disappointed by was that EA’s famous money hole didn’t make an appearance this year. I was excited to enjoy the ritual of everybody getting together and throwing piles of money and credit cards into their money hole. My father worked two jobs so he could have money to throw in the money hole. Hopefully we see it return next year, we definitely need to continue dumping money into their hole, it’s a tradition that I would be upset to see go away. Were you excited about any of what EA showed this year? Hyped to get your hands on Battlefield V? Let us know below! In case you’re wondering what’s been going on in the news before E3, you can click here to get caught up while you have the chance. Be sure to stay tuned to Fanbros this week, I’ll be reporting about the conferences all week long!
