Dragon Ball Z returns as Dragon Ball Super
Let’s not waste any time today with pleasantries like “How have you been?” and “How’s your day going?” Because I don’t care. Dragon Ball Z is returning to our television screens. Famitsu reports that the creator of the Dragon Ball franchise, Akira Toriyama, will be spearheading the new Dragon Ball Super( Dragon Ball Chou in Japanese.) But that’s not even the best batch of news. Dragon Ball Super will be premiering on Fuji TV in JULY of this year.
The last Dragon Ball television series was Dragon Ball GT, which aired from 1996 to 1997. But the most popular iteration of the show, Dragon Ball Z, ran from 1989 to 1996. It quickly gained steam in America once it’s found it’s home on the then Cartoon Network block, Toonami. Currently Dragon Ball Z Kai is airing on American screens on that same action-cartoon block. Dragon Ball Super will pick up after Goku defeats Majin Buu and the world has once again become a peaceful place. With Kai streamlining the Z series we can hope for a more fast paced, no filler, storytelling format. We can also hope to see Dragon Ball Super on our television screens here in America. Maybe on a certain late night action cartoon block?
