Brief Battles Game Review – Pantsless Fun
Brief Battles is a very… interesting game made by Juicy Cupcake. It’s an underwear-based party game that could easily be dismissed if you’re just scrolling through the Steam store page. But Brief Battles is a game you should go back to take a look at because its frantic combat and exciting modes are definitely worth your time while you have some friends over.
The gameplay is the main attraction of this one and its simple, but fun. There’s a few different types of underwear that you pick up that give you different powers. Most are projectiles, others are physicals attacks, but they all play very differently in combat, which adds a nice level of variety to matches. It was fun experimenting with the different abilities and it helped make every match feel different.
The stages in this game are also worthy of praise. None of the maps in this game felt the same, meaning you’ll have to strategize differently for each one, which was fantastic.
The single player aspect of Brief Battles is a variety of challenges that are surprisingly challenging enough to not get boring. I usually get bored very quickly with games that have trials in lieu of a story mode, but the trials in Brief Battles kept me on my toes. Not only is there plenty of variety in the trials, offering different challenges like testing your platforming or shooting skills, but they’re also great for honing your skills to actually play against your friends before they come over. I still would have rather had some sort of fleshed out single player experience, but I’m not mad at these trials.
Obviously, every quality party game shines when it comes to its multiplayer experience, and Brief Battles is no different. I went into the multiplayer options thinking that there would only be the standard battle mode, but was surprised to see a decent selection of very different game types. There’s King Of The Hill, Elimination matches, a match type wear you collect underwear, and more. You can even do some of the trials with a friend. You definitely won’t get bored just playing this at a party. It’s exhilarating, loud, crazy fun, as a party game should be.
When I loaded up Brief Battles, I wasn’t expecting much. What I got was a surprisingly fun and unique party game. As I said earlier, Brief Battles is the game you should scroll back to on Steam. It may not seem like much, but booting this up with friends over will definitely result in some great times and exciting moments. It’s simple to get into and varied enough to keep you and your friends entertained for the whole kickback.
