She-Hulk Netflix Series On The Horizon. Woman Of Color Rumored For Lead.
Marvel Studios has confirmed that a She-Hulk television series is currently in development. Adding to the recent updates of their Netflix deal due to the success of Dardevil Seasons 1 & 2, and Jessica Jones, Marvel has decided to bring everyone’s favorite green lawyer to screen near you. But will the series follow in tone to it’s predecessors? We sat down with Marvel Television executive producer Jeph Loeb to get the story on why She-Hulk might be Marvel’s first foray into the classic comedy procedural.
“We love our civil service vigilantes here at Marvel and we couldn’t think of a better one to bring to TV. Jennifer Walters has always had the luxury of being the tongue-in-cheek hero in our line up. Her books never quite reach the gravitas of something like The Incredible Hulk because they don’t have to. She’s a mix of the street level vigilante and the super heroic badass. She’s a Hulk, and a lawyer. Where Matt Murdock might shirk the responsibility of the law to accomplish Daredevil’s goals, Jennifer Walters will use the law to aid in She-Hulk’s exploits.”
Many an actress have been attached to this role since the announcement was made was San Bernadino Comic-Con; Jennifer Lopez, America Ferrera, Mindy Kahling, Taraji P Henson, Tracee Ellis Ross, the lady at the bodega with her rollers under a scarf. No matter the choice, Loeb did promise us that his top pick is very interested in the project. “The actress I really want to tackle this isn’t known exclusively for her acting but she promised me that if she was chosen for the role that she’d study under the best. I can tell you she’s a powerful woman of color. She’s already got a booked year but I think… with the formation of this project, she is going to be involved one way or another.”
Is Loeb hinting at a Beyonce Marvel debut? Doubtful, but one could only hope. They turned Chris Evans into a reputable actor, imagine what they could do with Beyonce. Parkwood could not be reached for a comment, Blue Ivy escorted us off the premises.
