In 2018, it’s hard to imagine that even twelve years ago, the name “Tony Stark” didn’t carry much weight outside of the local comics shops. How times have changed. Beginning with Marvel Studios’ first outing, Iron Man up until 2018’s ground-breaking Black Panther, “it’s all been leading to this.” Avengers: Infinity War drops its latest trailer just over a month before it hits theaters. What follows next could be considered a fanboy’s dream as new and long-awaited character introductions, such as Star-Lord and Iron Man, Spider-Man and Dr. Strange, finally play out on the big screen.

With the opening narration delivered by his Gamora, Thanos’ quest couldn’t be clearer, “to wipe out half the Universe.” Infinity War seeks to set up the Mad Titan as this generation’s Darth Vader. It should come as no surprise then that the relationship between father and daughter be this movie’s emotional center. Later trailer images of a young Gamora alongside Thanos seem to confirm this. The Guardians of the Galaxy movies have had centered around the complexities of family. Could the Russos be setting up Gamora for that #InfinityFade?

The next two movies in the Avengers franchise boasts a whopping 60+ Marvel Comics characters onscreen! With elements of the films to include characters from Marvel Studios’ first 10 years, in no way will all of our favorites make it out alive. Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Chadwick Boseman, Tom Holland, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Benedict Wong, Letitia Wright, Paul Bettany, Josh Brolin, Danai Gurira, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, and a host of others. Avengers: Infinity War opens April 27th, 2018 followed up by the fourth, untitled Avengers movie in 2019.
