4 Anime Crossovers We Didn’t Know We Needed

On the FanBros episode entitled “Hentai Never Die” a lovely listener asked what anime universe mash-ups would we like to see. DJ BenHaMeen offered up Fist of the North Star versus One Punch Man. Tatiana seemed to still ache for that Pokemon/Digimon crossover. Chico Leo gave us the suggestion of a Robotech and Shingeki No Kyojin (Attack on Titan) pairing as well as Sailor Moon meets Voltron. So your friendly neighborhood Deadly Diva got to thinking – what other anime universe crossovers does the world deserve, but was denied. Wonder no more.

    1. Vampire Princess Miyu and Yu-Gi-Oh

    Miyu Yugi

If you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen this suggestion. Before you turn up your nose, just picture it. Seto and Larva join forces to assist Miyu as she hunts shinma who have hidden themselves as the creatures in a Duel Monsters deck. Kaiba’s motivations are purely selfish. He cannot abide by outside forces potentially manipulating the outcome of his matches or negatively affecting the profitability of his company. Larva cares not about money or the game. He just wants to be by Miyu’s side. Yugi, meanwhile, has to work through serious internal conflict. On one hand, he knows Miyu is doing the right thing by sending malevolent shinma back into the darkness. On the other, Yugi discovers that his Dark Magician is actually a Western shinma sent to retrieve Larva.

    2. Naruto and Yu Yu Hakusho

    Naruto Yu Yu

All this Deadly Diva has to say is Chuunin exams versus the Dark Tournament. Think of the match between Sasuke and Hiei. Thank me later.

    3. Nana and Paradise Kiss

    Paradise Nana

Both series are based on manga written by Yazawa Ai. The mixture of music and fashion makes this a perfect pairing. Nana and Ren know George and Isabella because they are frequent BLAST shows. Once Ren defects to join Trapnest, the happy harmony is broken, with George siding with Ren and Isabella staying by Nana’s side. Isabella finds a kindred fashion spirit in Nana’s roommate Hachi, who regardless of universe, struggles to deal with the extraordinary people surrounding her. As Nana’s star begins to climb, the friends find themselves meeting more and more often, leading to an awkwardly beautiful reconciliation, with less angst and a spectacular soundtrack.

    4. Claymore and Trinity Blood

    Claymore Trinity

Claymores are specially created human-youma hybrids bred to kill youma. Crusniks are specially created vampires bred to feed on other vampires. Imagine a post-apocalyptic world where their respective enemies are eradicated and the people who created them no longer need them. The Organization and The Vatican arranges for the remaining Claymores and the Crusniks to take each other out, à la Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Abel and Clare recognize the ruse. However, it is unclear if they will be able to prevent the planned devastation.

This Deadly Diva could likely do this for days. Think of what could happen if Bleach and Assassination Classroom met. Or Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and Full Metal Alchemist. Or Sword Art Online and .hack//Sign. What anime crossovers would you like to see? Let us know!
